Transportation, the maps of travel, and those navigators that carried out the exchange of goods are subjects of historians. And this travel and the need to trade goods has redefined the location of populations on a global scale.





The economics of countries rise and fall on their dominance of trade. The importance of trade, either in a local economy or with a global economy, is as critical today as in the past. We acknowledge those countries that are great exporters; we nearly deify those individuals in control of the export and import of goods in a world market. Today's "navigators" have replaced the trade route maps of the past with computers and transportation management systems (TMS) that plan and execute the movement of goods with a precision that allows "real time / just-in-time" delivery schedules.
