One of our main roles as an association is to represent the interests of our members to the various bodies responsible for the creation of standards and legislation for the industry. For example, when the Health and Safety Executive and the Department of Trade and Industry want to consult with the industrial truck industry, they come to us.
Internationally, we have strong links with the ITA in the USA , and provide the UK industry's voice with respect to EU legislation as a member of the Federation Européene de la Manutention (FEM).
All BITA members benefit from our being a forum for industry connections, and receive advance news on legislation through the regular BITA Bulletin. They have the opportunity to participate in the working groups that are convened, and use the BITA technical helpline, for advice on complying with industry standards.
