Al's Cartage

Ernest Frohlich purchased Al's Cartage as a one truck operation in 1936. He started out with a commitment to provide the best service possible to his then small base of customers. The Frohlich family still owns and operates the company. Norman Frohlich, son of the late Ernest Frohlich, is the company President, assisted by his wife, Irene, and his son Randy.

From a one-truck operation, Al's Cartage has evolved to become a major force in the Ontario transporation industry. The formation of Al's International Cartage Inc. in 1993 by Roger Frohlich - also a son of Norman - propelled the company into the International market. Cross border service proved to be a natural addition to the core services provided to Ontario customers. Al's Cartage is now a one-stop shopping center for the following types of services:

From these facilities, Al's Cartage serves the majority of Ontario on a direct basis. The balance of the province is served by interline with other Ontario-based carriers.

Al’s Cartage employees are non-union, driving company owned equipment, owner operators are utilized for specific areas of the business. Central dispatch is located in Kitchener, with Chatham area day runs dispatched from the Chatham terminal. All trucks are equipped with a cell phone, pager or two-way radio.

None of the growth would have been possible without the support of loyal customers and dedicated employees. From the time of the first customer contact, the entire staff puts all the resources of Al's Cartage to work for the benefit of the customer. The result is a consistent, on-time service unmatched in the industry.
