Wayne Lanter was an entrepreneur. He focused on his customers' needs, and saw them as opportunities for growth. His commitment to professionalism and dedication to quality service earned Lanter Company the respect of its customers, a reputation of excellence in the industry, and a future of successful growth.

In 1974 Farmland Industries asked the company to open a distribution operation in Kansas City. Within the next five years, Lanter diversified its customer base outside the packing industry. By concentrating on products that require a "protected environment", such as humidity levels and temperatures, Lanter began warehousing and distributing for candy and confectionery customers. In order to provide its growing list of customers "full service" distribution capabilities, Lanter opened its linehaul operation in 1979, offering refrigerated transportation services throughout the Midwest.

In 1983 Lanter purchased Adams Distribution and Midwest Distribution in the Kansas City area. The two companies warehoused many candy, grocery and pharmaceutical accounts, and furthered the company's diversification and expansion. Over the next ten years, Lanter built three new warehouses offering 500,000 square feet of protected warehousing space in Madison, Illinois.

Growth in the Mid 1990's took a new direction for Lanter Company, while exemplifying its ongoing commitment to dedicated customer service. The company began building "customer warehouses" for a new customer, American Italian Pasta Company. The warehouses are extensions of the company's production facilities, and as a result, provide maximum efficiency.

Today Lanter Company provides more than 5,000,000 square feet of warehousing space, and runs a fleet of 400 plus refrigerated trucks throughout the country for its growing list of customers.
