Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI) was founded in March 1996 financed by the Korean government. The nation's sole railway research body is committed to improving the overall railway systems built upon nationwide rail networks in order to maintain competitiveness in the global market. The experts group serves the purpose in an optimal manner by teaming up with academia, industry and government.

KRRI has come a long way since its inception to develop highly advanced rail technology in the nation for the passenger. Specifically, the railway research body is currently involved with several national projects among which are Korean high speed rail, HSR-350x at the maximum speed of 350km/h, Urban light rail transit, K-AGT and standardization and tilting transit system, Tilting Train Express for speed up on conventional lines.



We are to make a significant contribution to the nation's infrastructure with our sustained efforts and determination to crank in the world's top five leaders of railway technology in the foreseeable future.


We attribute our year-long achievements to our key researches as fundamental rail technology, advanced rail system technology, railway safety technology, on-site support technology and safety tests and assurance technology on the railway systems and components.

Based on initiatives and technology on the cutting edge, each individual of the research group is pursuing, as a proud railman, the identical goal of zero tolerance in rail accident establishing a rail-oriented logistics services on fast, safe and eco-friendly railways for the forthcoming generations.
