Cliff Funnell Associates

Cliff Funnell has worked under contract to the UK Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) since 1983 and CFA have acted as Programme Consultants on UK and European collaborative research programmes, involved in development, promotion and management:

Efficient Ship: technology for advanced ships (1985-1990)
Resources from the Sea: marine resource technologies (1984-1987)
Wealth from the Oceans: marine resource technologies (1988-1992)
EUREKA/EUROMAR: marine environmental technologies (1986-2001)
EU Framework: (1984-ongoing)
CFA are presently acting as the UK FP6 Contact Point for Maritime Transport RTD.

Other clients have included the EC, Swedish, Irish and Canadian governments, industry and research institutes. Cliff Funnell is presently Editor of Jane's Underwater Technology, a reference publication on world underwater technologies and associated R&D.

Cliff Funnell served for five years with Shell Tankers, leaving in 1979 as Third Officer. He graduated from the University of Southampton in 1982 with a BSc in Nautical Studies and in 1988 was awarded an MBA.
