Lovell International Limited came into being on 1 February 2005 when the well established business of “Autotrade Limited” changed its name to Lovell International.

Autotrade was originally formed in 1998 primarily as business to ship used cars from Japan to Europe. In the first 6 years of its existence dynamic growth and bold acquisition strategies saw the company expand in a number of areas primarily linked to vehicle logistics and auctions. In addition Autotrade built up a number of investments and strategic partnerships with other companies, in the UK and overseas, who are involved in a wide range of activities including import vehicle compliance testing and waste disposal and recycling.

From 2003 onwards the role of the company evolved from purely operational activities to become a holding company with responsibility for the co-ordination, management and provision of support services to its subsidiary and partner organisations.

The Board therefore felt that a new, generic name for the company had become more appropriate. In addition there was a strong desire among Directors and staff to acknowledge the contribution of the Group’s late founder Mark Lovell. The new company name and logo are linked directly to Mark and his motorsport interests
