Baltic Container Lines Co. Ltd. was established on the 18th July 1995 by two Polish compaies Morski Port Handlowy Gdynia S.A. and POL Amercia S.A..
At the begining of activity Baltic Container Lines Co. Ltd. offered weekly service linking Gdynia with two main German transhipment ports: Hamburg and Bremerheven and operated only one container vessel.

Following the shareholders change, which presently are Chinese – Polish Joint Stock Company- as the strategic one, Polish Ocean Lines and C. Hartwig Gdynia S.A., share capital was increased. This enabled acceleration of Baltic Container Lines Co. Ltd. development.
