CFR Marfa

The National Company for Freight Railway Transport, "CFR Marfa"-SA was set up on the 1st October 1998, after the reorganization through division of The Romanian Railways National Company and has the status of a commercial company.
CFR Marfa is a company that develops its activities in the field of services and has as a main object of activity the freight and other goods railway public transport, in domestic and international traffic. In this respect:

operates on the infrastructure of the Romanian Railways as a national railway operator;
is the owner of the private patrimony, owns autonomously the goods that are its property and beneficiates of the results from their use.
CFR Marfa is managed by 11 member that constitute the board of directors, which of one is a specialist belonging to the Ministry of Finance. These managers are elected by the general assembly of the shareholders for a period of four years. The management of CFR Marfa is ensured by the General Manager who is also the president of the board of directors. CFR Marfa can be privatized and, in compliance with the law, the Romanian state has the possibility to keep the majority of stocks.
CFR Marfa has approximately 21,000 employees in all its organizational structures, possesses a fleet of 927 engines (electric, Diesel-electric, and Diesel- hydraulic), a fleet of approximately 60,000 trucks structured on 23 different series and is endowed with two ferryboats with a displacement of 12,000 tdw each.
