Wichita Co Ltd manufacture pneumatic and hydraulically applied dry and wet friction style clutches and brakes.
Size range is from 100mm to 1700mm diameter in one, two, three or four plate designs. Engine rooms in all types of vessels have benefited from Wichita's expertise, experience and design flexibility.
Due to their large friction area and airtube actuation, Wichita clutches facilitate smooth take-up of power in main propulsion drives for Fixed Pitch or Controllable Pitch propellers. Various models of clutch are available to suit Quill shaft mounting or inline shaft to shaft where a comprehensive range of clutch / flexible coupling combinations are availabe to choose from.
Wichita brakes provide for dynamic payout tensioning and static holding in high powered mooring / anchor handling winch applications.
Stopping and static holding of propleller shafting.
