The Aabenraa Port is an independent municipal, that is run under the regulations of the Traffic Ports Act of 2003. As a public port it is a part of the publically accessible infrastructure, that is available to the business community and the society, with respect to seaward transport of cargoes and passengers.



In the Regional Plan 2000 for the County of Sønderjylland it says for example that: "The traffic ports of the region are of great commercial significance, and should therefore be granted possibilities for the necessary developments and modernizations. Especially the Aabenraa Port must be considered, as the most important public port in the region."

The port is the biggest public port in Sønderjylland and one of Denmarks bigger public ports. The port has abt. 2.2 km of quay area, together with two tankship piers and a RO/RO terminal, at its disposal - the waterdepth varying from 4 to 11 m.

The port is accessible to ships with a maximum length of 250 m.

The spaces in the port area are let out to port related companies, and the port has abt. 300,000 sqm available for these purposes.

The Aabenraa Port has 3 high capacity harbour mobile cranes at its disposal, together with a variery of efficient handling equipment.
