Chesapeake Marine Training Institute, Inc. (CMTI), a Service Disabled Veteran Owned, Small Business Concern, founded in October 1992, is a large privately owned school in the mid-Atlantic region and was cited in the April 2002 edition of Marine Log as being one of ten leading maritime training companies in the United States. Occupying over 8000 square feet of a modern office and classroom spaces, with an additional 12,500 square feet of outdoor training complex, CMTI is located near the historic triangle of Yorktown, Jamestown and Williamsburg, Virginia. We are well within a day's drive from most locations within New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolinia. Three major airports, AMTRAK and Greyhound/Trailways Bus terminals are nearby. Chesapeake Marine Training Institute is a full time training facility, open 52 weeks of the year. We offer more than twenty-six US Coast Guard approved courses and are approved for the Education and Training of Veterans for certain courses. Chesapeake Marine Training Institute continues to provide training for several State and Federal agencies including Virginia Department of Transportation, North Carolina Ferry System, US Navy, NOAA, MARAD, US Army, US Army Corps of Engineers and the US Coast Guard. CMTI is a General Services Administration (GSA) contract holder providing courses and services to our US Government customers under FSC 69 - Training Aids and Devices under contract number GS-02F-0173N. We continue to develop courses to meet the ever changing needs of the maritime community.
CMTI’s instructors are all USCG licensed, professional mariners, skilled in sharing their knowledge with others and providing personal tutoring when needed. Our instructors take pride in presenting professional seamanship skills and knowledge for mariners seeking their U.S. Coast Guard license or Merchant Mariner’s Document. CMTI support does not end in the classroom! We know the value of individual instruction and ensure we provide it. Our instructors offer direct and personal assistance throughout the training process and with all homework assignments.
