Yankton County Emergency Medical Services is located in Yankton, South Dakota. We provide ambulance coverage to all of Yankton County as well as portions of Cedar and Knox Counties in northeast Nebraska, serving approximately 23,000 people in a 500 square mile area.
Our staff includes four full-time Paramedics and thirty paid volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians. The volunteer's training level ranges from EMT-Basic or EMT-Intermediate all the way to Paramedic. At any given time, there is one full-time Paramedic and two volunteers on duty, working as one team to staff the ambulance and Advanced Life Support vehicle. If additional crews are needed, they are paged on an as-available basis
