The Amherst Life Saving Crew (ALSC) was founded in 1959 to provide primary emergency medical services (EMS) and rescue operations to the north-central portion of Amherst County, including the Town of Amherst and the communities of Amherst, Sweet Briar, Faulconerville, and Clifford. We are located in central Virginia just north of the City of Lynchburg, about 60 miles south of Charlottesville, and 100 miles east of Richmond, VA. On weekdays, we find our coverage area grows into adjacent communities there is sometimes an inadequate staffing to handle calls in that area |
