A self help organisation run for disabled people by disabled people. Encourges greater independence through enhanced mobility for drivers, passengers, wheelchair users, and anyone who uses a mobility aid. The DDA is a leader in the fight for improved mobility and access. Maintains a full information service; publishes bi-monthly journal `Magic Carpet` (free to all members) and information leaflets on many topics. Campaigns through liaising and campaigning with government and local bodies. Concessions with the main ferry companies in order to make mobility more affordable.
Full and associate membership is £14 per annum; joint membership £18; life membership £280.
For accessible holiday accommodation, drivers are referred to organisations such as John Grooms, Enable Holidays, Access Travel (Lancs), Leonard Cheshire and Holiday Care. |
