Procedure:

i.  Pilotage is compulsory and available 24 hours.

ii. Vessels should send ETA 36 hours prior arrival .

iii. Vessels should send the request for pilots 24 hours in advance by telegraph or

    telex

iv. Vessels are requested to report to the Marine Signal VHF Ch 20 at least 2 hours

    before arrival and maintain a continuous listening watch for pilotage and berthing

    information.

v. The pilot is at one mile North East of Tanjong Po Lighthouse at

    Latitude 1( 44.2(N Long 110( 31.8( E. During the North East Monsoon (October

    to March) the station is moved to the Embang and Senari Leads at

    Location 1( 39.3 ( N 110( 31.3( E (Buoy 6).

Shiplock (Barrage)

Frequency: Ch 61

Procedure:

i. Details of the vessel and the owner should be sent by fax

ii. The master must ensure they have necessary telecommunication equipment   

   before transiting the Sungai Sarawak Shiplock (Barrage) to communicate with

   Kuching Barrage

iii. Vessels should report to Kuching Barrage by telephone or VHF Ch 61 at least 1

    hour before the vessel arrives at the entrance to the shiplock.

The channel from the pilot station to the wharf is buoyed and is restricted by the presence of two bars.

i. The outer bar hard sand bottom is located about 2 miles East South East Tg. Po

   lighthouse with a depth 5.2m above chart Datum.

ii. The inner bar which lies approximately one nautical mile East by South of Tg.
