With the recent spate of hijackings, particularly off the coast of Somalia, James Gosling, our head of Admiralty and recognised expert on piracy, hosted a seminar advising the shipping and insurance industries on how to respond to specific instances and how to deal with the associated problems generally.  James also recently spoke at Maritime London's seminar hosted by the Lloyd's Market Association, where he gave further insight.

The global credit crunch and subsequent economic downturn have already had a significant impact on the shipping industry. The shortage of liquidity in the banking markets means that it has become increasingly difficult to raise finance for new projects.
